Quantum Foundations Grants Oasis Compassion Agency $31, 505.
Greenacres, Florida, May 5, 2010 – Oasis Compassion Agency has been awarded a grant by The Quantum Foundation, Inc. in the amount of $31,505.00 to fund a Benefits Specialist/Case Management position. This position will allow us to assist more families in applying for services in relation to food stamps, Medicaid and other health related services, while helping them to take their next step through the services offered at our Career Center.

The Quantum Foundation was created in 1997 after the sale of JFK Hospital and has since given more than $80 million dollars in grants to Palm Beach County nonprofits. “When we saw the great work that Oasis Compassion is doing in a time of greater need then ever in our community, we felt it matched perfectly with our mission to improve access to health care in Palm Beach County,” states Jeanette Corbett, interim President at the Quantum Foundation.

Oasis Compassion Agency Awarded Jarden Consumer Solutions Grant
OASIS AWARDED JARDEN CONSUMER SOLUTIONS COMMUNITY FUND GRANT

Greenacres, Florida, June 24, 2010 – Oasis Compassion Agency has been awarded a grant by Jarden Consumer Solutions Community Fund in the amount of $15,600 to fund a Job Counselor position. This position will allow Oasis to assist more candidates in their job search and preparation. The Oasis Compassion Agency Job Counselor helps clients prepare resumes, conduct mock interviews, provide interview clothing and viable job leads to candidates. The Job Counselor also helps coordinate a quarterly Career Skills Workshop which is open to the community at large at no cost.

Jarden Consumer Solutions, headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, best known for brands such as Mr. Coffee®, Sunbeam®, Rival® and Oster®, is committed to investing in their local community. “This is our fourth year receiving funds from Jarden,” states CEO, Sharon Gill. “Over the past four years we have received over $38,000 from Jarden, in addition to goods and merchandise for re-sale in our Thrift Store to help offset operational costs. Jarden has been pivotal to the growth of our Career Center and we owe a lot to them for their committed partnership.”

2010-04-23 Oasis Seeks Donations For Women's Center

The life of distressed women in Palm Beach County is difficult if they have nowhere to turn for assistance. Sharon Gill, CEO of the Oasis Compassion Agency, a non-profit agency assisting low-income families in need, found the solution in the development of a 1,600-square-foot women’s center in Greenacres.

Prior to founding the Oasis Compassion Agency in 2003, Gill worked at Gill & Associates, the law firm she and her husband started. Sylvia Lee, Oasis board chair and co-founder of Connection Outreach, has been with the agency since the beginning. “Oasis was born out of the food pantry at a church,” Lee said. “We began by helping people fill out applications and just anything to get them help in life.”

2010-01-14 Martin Luther King Leadership Award Given to Sharon Gill

Sharon Gill was awarded the 2010 Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award for an individual, at a ceremony at the newly re-named Palm Beach State College on Thursday, January 14, 2010. The Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Awards were estalished by Palm Beach State College to honor individuals and organizations that have made major innovative contributions toward improving the lives of others, particularly the underserved, through leadership, service and or programs. These contributions can be in the areas of education, diversity, race relations, health care, social justice and economic empowerment.

2010-01-08: Oasis Compassion Agency Hosts Gift Party

More than 300 children received toys on Saturday, Dec. 12 during the annual  "Touch a Heart for Christmas" gift party.

The event was sponsored by the Oasis Compassion Agency and co-sponsored by Boca Raton-based Jarden Consumer Solutions, Greenacres and Lake Worth postal workers, the Park Vista High School Key Club, MDR Chiropractic and many other friends of Oasis. The co-sponsors adopted several children, and the children were able to choose specific gifts. The children were either past or present clients of the Oasis Compassion Agency.
