Oasis believes in giving people a “step up” by providing families with their basic needs through our food and clothing programs while restoring dignity, self-worth and a "step-up" through the training and counseling offered at our Career Center and Women Center Services.
Qualified clients receive bread, pastry, produce and other perishable food items once a week and non-perishable canned and shelf food items once a month for up to six months at our Food Pantry. They also receive free clothing for job interview/work clothes whenever they are needed. While clients receive assistance with their basic needs they also receive help through Biblically based counseling, assistance finding a job, resume building, typing and computer classes, budget/credit/banking classes, other life skills training and referrals to additional community resources like Health Care District for health insurance, Medicaid and Food stamp application assistance as well. These services are provided at our Career Center.
Our Women Center services provides exclusive help to women, especially in the area of counseling and self-esteem building services. It has been found that over 80% of single parent households are headed by women and they have additional abusive physical and/or emotional issues that need to be overcome before they can become successful. The Women Center comes alongside women to help them improve their self-image, improve their mental well-being, and develop necessary life skills. Many impoverished women have nowhere else to go for help. Oasis provides a place of hope and encouragement for these women.
